The hill outside Harwelden Mansion is one of the most popular places in town for sledding.

The first snow of the season means it’s time to whip out the sleds.
Bundle up and enjoy the thrill of whooshing down the snow-covered slopes at any of these five hilly areas in Tulsa.

Harwelden Mansion
22nd Street and Riverside Drive
After a good snowfall, the wide hill outside the Harwelden Mansion is one of the most popular places in town. You’ll be sure to find kids and adults enjoying their sleds and snowboards on this slippery slope.

Woodland Hills Mall

71st Street and Memorial Drive
The hill on the northeast side of Woodland Hills Mall is also a perfect sledding spot. Located behind the green glass building that used to house Hardesty Regional Library, the long hill will appease those looking for the biggest thrill.

Roy Clark Elementary
3656 S. 103rd East Ave.
To the east of Roy Clark Elementary lay several hills surrounding the soccer fields of Tulsa United. Sled down the slopes, or have someone pull you along the vast expanse of the flat land of the fields.

Will Rogers High School
3909 E. Fifth Place
Or whiz past others on the snowy hills outside of Will Rogers High School.

Chandler Park
6500 W. 21st Street
For those looking for a great sledding location in west Tulsa, head over to Chandler Park, where the snow converts the grassy hills into a perfect place for cold-weather fun.

Snow sliding is for when we have snow....but when we had packed snow, or ice, we would go sledding on King Place when I was a kid...steel runners polished with Ivory Soap bars...a long hill, not steep, but a 2 block ride.

We would place someone at 71st E Avenue to watch for cross traffic , and if a car was coming, we would turn into Jackie Jordans driveway...lower our heads...and ram into the hedges to come to an abrupt stop....but if there was no traffic, we would slide all the way through the next block.

This was great fun, until you realized that for another ride, you had to slip and slide your way 2 blocks back up the hill.
