A "Friend"-ly scent

Jennifer Aniston's same-named new fragrance.
Her upcoming rom-com with Adam Sandler isn't the only news Jennifer Aniston is making.
The Emmy-winning, Golden Globe-earning actress has joined the ranks of celebs with scents, as Sephora.com debuted her new, eponymous scent.
"I wanted this fragrance to be a personal library of scent memories," Jennifer told us over coffee recently. Just kidding -- this is all from a company release. But wouldn't that have been fun? Anyhoo ..
"For example," she continued, perhaps over coffee with whomever was dictating this, "my love of night blooming jasmine has lasted a lifetime. Growing up in California, I distinctly remember the scent of the jasmine on summer evenings."
The plant, known as Queen of the Night (anyone else humming Whitney Houston from "The Bodyguard" soundtrack?), omits a heady and far-reaching scent, and flourishes in tropical climates. Such places are close to Aniston’s heart and were a significant part of her childhood. She also recalls her trips to Greece, where she cultivated a love of beaches, water and the warmth and solace of the outdoors.
She considers the scent of the ocean to be "one of life's most uplifting sensual experiences," she went on to say. "No aroma is quite so purifying, humbling and exhilarating. The combination of the salty air and tropical oils reminds me of long sunny days on the beach – pure happiness."
The actress apparently enjoyed playing alchemist, adjusting and refining the combination of notes for more than a year in partnership with IFF. The debut fragrance has top notes of citrus grove and rose water; middle notes of blooming jasmine, which she paired with wild violets and Amazon lily; and dry-down notes of sensual musk, golden amber and sandalwood, a woody base note inspired by the smell of wood fires at friends' houses. Wonder if she meant Courtney's house, hmm ...
The bottle is inspired by Jennifer’s love and appreciation of architecture, with references to a Frank Gehry building combined with the fluidity and organic form of a cresting wave.
Jennifer Aniston is available now on Sephora.com and in Sephora stores by late March. Prices are $39 for 1 ounce, $55 for 1.7, $70 for 2.9.
One last thing: In support of Aniston's continued charitable works, $1 of each Jennifer Aniston fragrance "like" achieved on Sephora.com/Sephora's Facebook page will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Peace, love and coffee with Jennifer ... XOXO

Living Wright
While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
