A messy house is a blessed house

Never leave the house without emptying your dishwasher.

A good cook I know gave me that advice, and I try to follow it. More than follow it, I think of it every time I walk out the door and take a look back at a sink full of dishes and a dishwasher with a little green glowing light above the words "Clean."

I do need to get a grip with the dirty dishes in the sink, but I'm not going to commit to a completely neat house. I've always found that people with stacks of books, yesterday's newspaper still on the dining room table and shoes in the living room (instead of the closet where they should be) are nicer people. It's the ones without a stitch out of place who may not be so forgiving.

Writing this made me think of a saying I once heard: "A messy house is a blessed house." But after googling it, I think I may have it wrong because the first thing that comes up is: "Blessed are the piecemakers, for they shall quilt forever. Their messy houses are blessed."

Unfortunately, I can't blame my mess on quilting.

I have never been able to get a grip on my housework. I serve people not things. I have noticed that people with perfect houses don't like imperfect people.

Edede-It's not an article, it's a blog.
