A special, multi-day sale at Center 1 in Brookside

I've been having some rather messed-up dreams lately, and last night was no exception.

I doubt the Abersons would appreciate my sharing this, but I dreamt that they had moved their fabulous retail oasis from Brookside to Sawmill Square Mall in my hometown of Laurel, Miss., and switched from selling clothes to making jewelry -- and, for whatever reason, incense.

Fortunately, that nightmare isn't true, so they will definitely be participating in the upcoming "Center 1 Sale" that runs Thursday through July 15. You'll find great deals on everything from furniture, clothing and hair-care products to gameroom items, eyeglasses and appetizers.

Here's what you can expect from Abersons and the other awesome merchants at Center 1:

SR Hughes -- floor-sample sale from their furniture showroom

Jara Herron -- Kerastase sun hair-care line, buy two receive a third free

Black Optical -- special collection of eyewear and sunglasses 40 percent off

Keo -- 1/2-price appetizers in the bar or lounge 4-6 p.m.

Pohlenz Cucine Moderne -- floor-models sale, up to 50 percent savings

Center 1 Market -- 10 percent off cafe, prepared foods, meats, cheese and grocery items

Eco Baby + Kids -- 50 percent off select summer collections; and layette special, but three get one free

Blue Moon Cafe -- pizza and wine dinner special 5-9 p.m. Monday-Friday

Baby Bump -- prenatal yoga $10 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays

One Billiards -- save 10 percent off all gameroom items (Center 1 location only)

Aberson Exhibits -- special pricing on selected works

Abersons -- 1/3 to 1/2 off spring and summer women's and men's clothing and shoes

For more, visit Center 1 in the heart of Brookside.

Peace, love and sale-shopping ... XOXO

Sorry, Hurc, just saw this! No, this wasn't an ad; I just try to mention sales whenever possible in my blog, as I can't get them in the print edition. So if you hear of a good one, holler at me -- I'll post it on here, as well as Facebook and Twitter. Have a good one ... j.a.w.

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
