OK, hold your horses. I know what your are thinking, and you have it all wrong.
Owner Brian Rostron, who opened the restaurant at 5646 S. Mingo Road four weeks ago with wife Billie Gean, also owns Action Erection Services, which constructs metal buildings.
"The name drew so much attention when we started the construction business that we thought it would be a catchy name for the restaurant, too," Brian Rostron said when contacted by phone.
I've had a couple of emails from readers who have dined there. Bob Taylor, a longtime fan of Knotty Pine Barbeque, destroyed by fire in May 2010, wrote: "As soon as I walked in the door I smelled the sauce -- that unique sauce, and ordered up a dinner of chopped brisket & pulled pork with beans and slaw for sides....as close to Knotty Pine as I could imagine."
Rostron said his restaurant probably reminds some of Knotty Pine because he hired a couple of cooks from the old restaurant.
"Our food isn't exactly the same as Knotty Pine, but some of it probably resembles it," Rostron said.
Action Erection is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
