Busey, who filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy Feb. 7, has officially passed an online financial management course required by the U.S Bankruptcy court with "flying colors," reported tmz.com Friday. The course is designed to offer bankruptcy filers guidance about budgeting and future money management.
The former Tulsan filed for bankruptcy in Los Angeles last month declaring he had more than $500,000 in debts and $26,225 in assets, including old moccasins, two teepees, a broken pellet gun, an old bull’s head and 300 VHS tapes.
Court documents show he earned his official Certificate of Debtor Education on March 5, 2012, and is "officially on the road to financial recovery," reported the entertainment website.
"Gary is excited for this fresh new start and wants to be an example for Americans all around that you can recover very quickly.
"Remember ... the Buseyism for Bankruptcy is: Bringing A New Knowledge Regarding Understanding Past Tribulations Concerning Yourself," a representative for the actor reportedly told the website.
The actor, who starred in more than 70 films, also noted in his initial filing that he "might owe money to a woman named Carla Loeffler," who sued him for allegedly attacking her at a Tulsa airport back in May, according to the entertainment website.
