The Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra has decided that, if one can't stop people from using cell phones during concerts, to allow it.

The orchestra has set up a presence on the social network Twitter:

But more than that, the orchestra is planning to provide "opportunities to Twitter during the concert" it is presenting Saturday at the Bartlesville Community Center.

Said concert, titled "Baroque and Beyond," will feature
David Stock's "Plenty of Horn" (2005); Francois Couperin's Overture and Allegro from "La Sultane," orchestrated and "freely transcribed" by Darius Milhaud; Gordon Jacob's "Fantasia on the Alleluia Hymn (All Creatures of Our God and King)"; Respighi's Passo Mezzo e Mascherada from Suite No. 3 of "Ancient Airs and Dances"; Stokowski's orchestral version of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor; and the Adagio in G minor usually credited to Tomaso Albinoni but actually compozed by Remo Giazotto.

The guest artist is violinist Augustin Hadelich, who will be featured in Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons."

Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 students, and available by calling 918-336-2787 and at the door.

It could be interesting to see what sort of Twittering may come from this.....
