"American Idol" winner Kris Allen and his wife and French bulldog were involved in a serious New Year’s Day collision, according to hollywoodreporter.com.

Allen, who won the reality TV singing competition in 2009, broke his right wrist and his pregnant wife, Katy, sustained unspecified injuries in the head-on collision.

Zorro, the dog, is fine, according to the website.

"Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus!” tweeted Allen's mother, Kimberly, last night.

"They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow. Zorro is fine, too! Very shook up, but not injured."

The 27-year-old singer is set to begin his "Out Alive" tour this month and tweeted his fans an update on the wreck last night, revealing the couple is expecting.

"Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe,” he tweeted Tuesday.

"Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby,” he clarified as #gonnabeadaddy.

Following the wreck, well wishers including E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt and his wife, tweeted their concern, according to the website.

"Stevie and I are sending love and prayers out to Kris and all of you. So thankful it wasn't worse & that he's doing well," Maureen Van Zandt tweeted.

But Allen is insisting via tweet that the tour will launch as planned.

"Don't worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on."

Here is Allen singing a new song he dedicated to those affected by the Newtown, Conn., tragedy.
