"American Idol" plans to pay tribute to the late, great Dick Clark on Thursday's show.

Host Ryan Seacrest took to Twitter today to make the announcement. "American Idol" airs at 7 p.m. tonight on Fox, channel 23, cable 5.

"We're putting together a tribute for Dick Clark on @AmericanIdol tonight… just talked to @dizzyfeet," he tweeted this afternoon. @dizzyfeet is the Twitter handle used by "AI" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, according to the website.

Fox confirmed the plan to honor the iconic Clark who died Wednesday at age 82 of a heart attack, according to deadline.com. Clark was the host of a wide variety of television shows including the legendary "American Bandstand" and the annual special "New Year's Rockin’ Eve."

Seacrest became emotional while mentioning the loss of Clark on Wednesday's "Idol."

"Without Dick, a show like this would not exist," the host said before noting the entrepreneur would be the first one to say, "Hey, let's get on with the show."

Cable's GSN will also air tributes to Clark during the cable network’s broadcasts of his $25,000 Pyramid” shows over the next next several days and will add an extra hour of "Pyramid" to its Saturday schedule. It airs on cable 171 in Tulsa.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
