Amish Country Store & Restaurant a little gem in Muskogee

We recently ran across, quite by accident, a gem of a place in Muskogee called Amish Country Store & Restaurant.

It's located on U.S. 69 just this side of Muskogee, so it's a short jaunt from most spots in the Tulsa area if you take the turnpike.

The dining room has an old-fashioned, farm-style look, and the menu features such items as drip beef, oven-roasted turkey breast, meatloaf, country ham, beef stew, chicken-fried steak and whole baby carrots.

The dessert section includes such yummy items as German chocolate cake, carrot cake, pies and cobblers.

Everything on the menu is less than $10.

We spent some time browsing through the noodles and jams and other food items in the gift shop area and wound up bringing home a bag of a soft, melt-in-your-mouth pecan brittle.

The restaurant is open 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, although hours may vary by the season. The phone number is 918-686-0243.

I will be writing a full review on the restaurant, tentatively to be published Feb. 14.

You are right Scott, it's a very nice place to stop when going through Muskogee. We like Baker's north of town too.
