The deluge earlier this month was exciting. For a second, I though that maybe the near-record parched May was just a fluke ...

Why did OSU head football coach Mike Gundy wear shades at last year's OSU-Tech game in Lubbock? Do you realize how windy and dusty west Texas is?! In this October 2010 file photo, Gundy and Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville meet at mid field after OSU's 34-17 win. MICHAEL WYKE/Tulsa World
This college football season started with severe thunderstorms, including two weather delays here in Oklahoma (Tulsa hosting Oklahoma State, OU hosting Texas Tech in Norman). It has also included high winds and snow, depending on where the game is.
So what does this weekend hold for our two state football teams in action? Here's the forecasts from the National Weather Service:
Marshall vs Tulsa, 11 a.m. Saturday in Tulsa
You can expect a sunny afternoon game in Tulsa when Marshall comes to visit. Wind gusts might hit 15 to 25 mph or even up to 30 mph, but with highs in the upper 60s, it might just seem pleasant to fans.
If you show up early, overnight lows are expected to be much higher this weekend than they are right now. Expect about mid to upper 40s to start your Tulsa day, possibly low 50s Saturday morning.
Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech, 11 a.m. Saturday in Lubbock, Texas
The thing I remember about football games at Texas Tech was a lot of wind and a lot of sand. It sounds like the weather service expects that Saturday late morning into the afternoon.
The forecast includes something called "areas of blowing dust," so you might need your sunglasses ... or a mascot head? Sunglasses actually might not be a bad idea, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s Saturday afternoon.
Like Tulsa, Lubbock is also expected to have noticeable wind, with gusts up to 35 mph possible.
If you are coming a day early, Lubbock's Friday night forecast includes lows in the upper 30s and 10 to 15 mph winds. Staying late? Saturday night is expected to be in the mid 40s with mostly cloudy skies and 5 to 15 mph winds.
