Haglund's Heel, a dance blog in New York City, posted this review of Tulsa Ballet's performance at the Joyce -- one of the few I've seen where I had the impression that the writer actually paid attention to what was happening on stage.

Read the story: Haglund's Heel on Tulsa Ballet

The NY Times and NY post were airily dismissive -- again, the narrowmindedness of some critics amazes me -- who mistake tossing out names with critical insight (Pina Bausch was evoked more than once, although I believe that was simply because she died a few weeks ago, and they were looking for a chance to slip her name into copy to appear au courant with what's going on in the world).

The Financial Times review was slightly better, but again it paid little attention to the dancers and their performances, mentioning only Kate Oderkirk and Karina Gonzalez.

Maybe Tulsa Ballet is too good for New York -- so good that the staid, jaded, seen-it-all critics who work here have no idea how to react.
