The cast of "August: Osage County" is com-puh-LEET-ly to blame for my missing kickboxing class this morning. OK, not really ...

August, ice and pretzel thingies -- Week 4, Day 3

Perhaps overly simplified, Tracy Letts freakin' rocks.

Did any of y'all see his "August: Osage County" last night at the PAC? It was THE best play I've ever seen. Loved every minute of it, can't wait to start dropping lines from it in random conversations.

But whereas it started at 7 p.m.; whereas we didn't get up to leave 'til 10:30 p.m.; whereas my little entourage had people to say hi to afterward; and whereas we talked for a while afterward before getting in our cars at midnight, I did NOT make it to the 5:45 kickboxing class this morning. Oops. However, PB and I did get up and go to the 6:30 yoga class. Sadly, it was cancelled, so I just did 90 minutes of cardio -- 50 on the elliptical machine, 30 on the treadmill. I know that adds up to 80, but I count the 10 minutes of panic from the time I woke up late 'til the time I arrived at the gym. Why can't I hear my alarm until after 6 a.m.?

Anyway, did better Tuesday with my vittles, although I didn't eat much last night because of my social calendar (excuses, excuses). Here's what went down:

Breakfast: Scrambled egg whites with spinach and feta -- SOOOOO glad the fat-free cheese ran out. Did I have oatmeal with blueberries? I don't think I did -- had a banana instead. I think. Is there a supplement to take for memory? Anyway ...
Lunch: Turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with spicy mustard and a low-fat mayo with which I mixed red curry. Also, carrot sticks and an apple.
Snack: An orange and a nectarine.
Dinner (at 11 p.m.): A Weight Watchers snack of two-point pizza-flavored pretzel thingies, courtesy of Banshee. Went home at midnight and had a couple slices of turkey.

I'll work out tomorrow for what could potentially be the last time this week, what with Mother Nature possibly grounding me Friday through Saturday, even Sunday. Ugh ... Not to wish my life away, but give me some spring already. Not ready for August, though, unless Tracy Letts has something to do with it.

Peace, love and Osage ... xoxo

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
