Band Cinderella drops Rocklahoma date

Famed ’80s rock band Cinderella canceled its tour due to lead vocalist Tom Kiefer losing his voice.

This includes the band’s scheduled performance at the monster, hair-metal festival, Rocklahoma, July 9-13 in Pryor.

Kiefer’s left vocal cord hemorrhaged, forcing the act to stop its summer dates.

“On behalf of the staff at Rocklahoma and its fans, we are saddened by what has occurred and wish Tom a speedy recovery,” said Dave Giencke, director of operations for the Pryor Creek Music Festivals, where Rocklahoma is held.

Now, Warrant will headline Saturday Evening with Lita Ford moving over from Friday to perform prior to Warrant.

More than 100 bands will perform on three stages over the five days.

For tickets, band lineup and more information, visit FeverFest.

This news is VERY disappointing. Cinderella was one of he FEW new, good bands playing at Oklahoma. Most of he bands are repeats or a single membr of a band hat played last year. Hopefully the people at Rocklahoma will do a better job of getting some differrnt bands next year. Why should fans pay $$$ to see the same bands 3 years in a row let alone 2 years in a row.

I think that the line up is weak this year. If they want a big turnout next year, they had better bring in bigger names!

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
