Dr. Robert J. Hudson, a behavioral pediatrician and clinical professor with OU Physicians is participating in the Family Life Symposium in Bartlesville this week.

A free presentation for parents will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ Family Life Center, 3700 SE Adams Blvd., as part of the symposium.

The presentation is titled "Predicting Your Child's Success or Struggles: Resilience at Home and School." Hudson will talk about variables that determine success, how to identify if your child is going through a phase or having a real problem, the importance of staying focused, and how to help your children for their most successful future.

I interviewed Hudson last week for an upcoming family-related story. He has been practicing since the 1970s, and he has a wealth of information. One of Hudson's specialties is working with parents whose children are “not easy” – he doesn’t use the word “difficult” because it implies children are purposefully misbehaving. I spoke to him for less than an hour, and in that short time, he gave me ideas for at least three other stories. Based on our conversation, I can confidently say that he has valuable information for parents.
