As best as I can tell, the restaurant business in Tulsa seems to be doing pretty well. At least the good restaurants are.

My son, a friend (actually it's my ex but we are good friends, yeah, I know, weird) and I ate at the White Owl Pub on Cherry Street last night. It was almost packed. The bar certainly was.

It's a lot like Kilkenny's, one of my favorite spots, just up the street. It's cozy, although brighter than Kilkenny's, friendly and the food and drinks are good.

We had a fried ravioli appetizer, which was excellent. And we had some fried chicken legs with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli that were delicious. Sam had a taco dish that he said was also very good.

The bartenders were friendly and quick. I like that in a bar. I only made one mistake. My first beer was an uneventful Boulevard Wheat. I get that often when I can't make up my mind. Then, however, I asked what the bottled beer next to the Newcastle in the cool case was. It was a Scotch ale, Trilquair, I think that's how it's spelled.

It was one of the best beers I have ever had. I had only one, figuring that it must be around 7 or 8 bucks. It was $11. Yes, it was good. But not that good. My son seemed to find some humor in that I paid $11 for a bottle of beer. His was only $6.

The best I can tell is the eating out business looks pretty good. A packed house on a Monday night is pretty impressive. I'll bet Kilkenny's was the same. Just goes to show, good food and good service in a good atmosphere will bring people out. Just check the price of exotic beer before you order it.
