Best places to get haircuts for kids

Louis Graham and his 3-year-old cousin don new summer haircuts thanks to Mr. Will.

I thought by now my boy, at age 8, would be able to get a drama-free haircut.

Louis has never liked having anyone cut his hair. It's not fear. It's being "tickled" around the ears.

As a toddler, I had to literally hold him down.

A discount hair chopshop had me in tears after a stylist asked what I had done to him to make him hate haircuts.

Nothing except give birth.

So, my shaggy-haired boy is trying to convince me that long hair is in. I wouldn't mind if he actually brushed and styled it.

My world changed after meeting Mr. Will at Kuts for Kids at 8122 S. Lewis Ave.

He’s fast, a pro at dealing with squirmy kids and has completely silent clippers, which is a big help. It’s a first-come, first-serve list.
Lots of toys, games and a video playing for entertainment.

Also, my 4-year-old daughter adores Julz at Salon Karma, 3230 E. 15th St. She has years of experience at kid-oriented salons. This is not a child-catering salon, but Julz has sparkles for girls.

Don't forget places like Clary Sage College or Jenks Beauty, where kids seem to respond to the young stylists.

Other suggestions?

My baby's haircut: Hair keeps falling out every time I give her a bath. It is amazing looking at early photos of her and thinking, "Did she REALLY have that much hair a few months ago?!"
