Braum's new artisan-style breads

Braum’s announced this week that their stores are selling several new breads.
The loaves include Whole Wheat Honey, Honey Oat Nut, Flax Seed, 100% Whole Wheat, and Multi Grain.

In addition to their new line of “Artisan Style” Breads, Braum’s is also adding “Rustic Country Wheat Sandwich Bread” to their existing bread line. This new bread is a “Pullman” loaf – which is a square bread whose name comes from its use in the compact kitchens of the Pullman railway cars of years past.

“We’ve been developing these breads for several months,” said Drew Braum, President and C.E.O. “That’s the nice thing about owning and operating your own bakery. We’re able to create our own recipes and experiment with all sorts of grains and ingredients.”

Braum’s bakes bread every day at their baker on the Braum Family Farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Braum explained they use what’s called the “sponge and dough method” when making bread. “It’s a more expensive and time consuming way to do things, but we think it gives the bread a much better taste and texture,” Braum said.

I agree. They do have good bread, as well as the regular lines of food.

I love Braums (esp. their milk and ice cream!) but their service is NOT GOOD. They are often sloppy looking individuals and move with the speed of peanut butter. Sometimes the place is not clean, which I believe is due to employee laziness.

I really wish they would clean up their business model.

It might be what Braums you shop at. I usually shop at the Braums near East 15th & South Lewis or the one near East 35th & South Harvard. There are usually plenty of employees, they seem busy.

I like their regular bread, so I purchased a loaf of their new Artisian bread, 100% whole wheat. It was terrible, it was dry, very dry. I hate dry bread, especially when just bringing it home from the store. I won't be purchasing the Artisian breads at Braums again.

Love Braum's milk, ice cream, cottage cheese, eggs, bacon and sausage. I don't care for their orange juice as it has such a high acid content and I don't like their yogurt.

They have great produce and meats. :)
