Bristol Palin is getting a reality series on Lifetime.

The cable channel has picked up "Bristol Palin's Life Is a Tripp," starring the daughter of the former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and husband Todd Palin.

The show will focus on Bristol's life as a young, single mother in Alaska raising her son Tripp and interacting with her family, according to deadline.com.

"From the first moment she was thrust into the public eye, Bristol and her son have been the subjects of a huge amount of curiosity and misunderstanding," Rob Sharenow, executive vice-president programming for Lifetime Networks, told the website.

"This show will reveal the real Bristol Palin and her journey as a daughter, a mother and a young woman making her way in the world."

The 10-episode series is being produced by Associated Television International, the same company that was to produce another Bristol Palin series starring she and her "Dancing With the Stars" friend, actor Kyle Massey. That show, ordered for the Bio Channel, never made it to air.

The Palins are a family of hucksters and grifters. I cannot believe they have the following they do.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
