People have been calling, people have been e-mailing me about the new version of the Cinemark Theaters advertisement in the newspaper, the little 1-inch ad that advises their guests of a phone number to call or a Web site to visit if they want to know what movies are playing at their theaters.
In this particular case, that means the Cinemark Tulsa at U.S. 169 and 71st Street, the Movies 8 dollar movies across from Woodland Hills, and the theaters in Broken Arrow and Sand Springs.
No longer can you look at the Tulsa World to find the movies and showtimes for these four theaters, due to the Cinemark advertising decision.
I provide our readers the best information I can in our movie grid listings in the Spot and the Friday Movie Scene, but we don't list showtimes. Not enough room.
That's what the theaters' advertisements are for, in my opinion.
So while I understand your frustration -- and as more than one person has told me, your decisions to visit those theaters that list their movies and times rather than search for the Cinemark information -- please let the folks at Cinemark know your opinion of their decision.
This is one of those situations in which your vote really can count, as calls of complaint apparently helped AMC decide to list their movies again -- albeit only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays -- when they decided to go to a similar 1-inch ad a couple of months ago.

where you can call, then press 1 for the customer comment desk and leave a detailed message that even gives the option of someone calling you back if you desire.
Or you can e-mail jvasquez@cinemark.com, with these options to call or e-mail Cinemark being your chance to the company your thoughts about them asking you to call or e-mail to find out what time your movie starts on Saturday night.

“I was born a poor, black child” … not me, actually, but Steve Martin’s character in the “The Jerk.” That absurd opening line is just one of the absurd number of film facts, quotes and minutiae contained in movie critic Michael Smith’s brain, at his disposal to toss out on a moment’s notice. It’s a key requirement as Tulsa World film critic to know these things. Michael learned a few other life facts along the way (seven years as a Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti manager) before attempting journalism and joining the Tulsa World in 1996, where he’s covered everything from a school shooting in Fort Gibson to a tornado in Stroud to witnessing an execution. A little community theater coverage was sprinkled in there, too. Movies engender many of his happiest memories, from standing in line for “Star Wars” and “Grease” at the Southroads Cinema to the James Bond and Pink Panther movies that always premiered at the enormous Continental Theater.
