Capp's BBQ to open Tulsa location this summer

Capp Crowder, former University of Tulsa football player and owner of the popular Capp's BBQ in Okmulgee, plans to open a Tulsa location this summer.

The restaurant will be located at 2604 E. 11th St.

"That will put me back close to TU," said Crowder, a Kansas City native. "I graduated in '94 and just stayed in this area."

Crowder, a wide receiver on the TU football team that won the Freedom Bowl, is known for his tender ribs, beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches.

"I would like to be open by July 1, but it is looking like it probably will be more like mid July," Crowder said.

I think I ate at his place, but if I remember, I think it burned down. I enjoyed his food, I am glad he is coming to Tulsa, on Route 66!

As I recall Capp's is very good. My only complaint is every time I go by the Okmulgee location it's always closed.
