Carrie Underwood and Michael Phelps???

You've heard the rumors, right? Well, Oklahoma's own Carrie Underwood sets the record straight.
"I never met the guy!" she told me over coffee recently. Kidding -- it's in her interview for Elle magazine's December issue, of which she graces the cover.
"I'm sure he's lovely," she tells Elle. "I'm sure he's a great guy. He made America proud! But I never met him, I never mentioned him in an interview, I never mentioned him in that way to anybody that I know. That was one of those completely, totally, utterly fabricated lies that came out of nowhere."
Carrie also talks about why she tries to keep her love life out of the public eye, as well as her comment that a taken Tony Romo still calls her.
Here are some more excerpts from Carrie's chat with Elle:
On dealing with celebrity: "I knew what I was signing up for, and I'm not complaining at all. I've learned how to deal with it, and my life is great, I'm a happy person. What are you going to do? Give it all up? No!" Amen, Sister.
On the drama surrounding celebrities: "All celebrities have to be involved in drama -- or they're not celebrities! There must be something wrong with 'em!" Again, amen.
On Mr. Romo still calling her: "It was just something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to say anything to hurt anybody or to stir up anything, because I'm just not about drama. At all. I might be mad, too, if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some other girl. So I can definitely see where she would be coming from. But I haven't talked to him since, like, May." Good to know. So simmer down, Miz Simpson.
On her fantasy of meeting someone who doesn't really know who she is: "If I meet somebody, and they don't know anything about me, that's like, 'Oh, you're going to actually get to know me a little bit before you go
Google me?'"
On fashion: "I've been trying to dress myself a little better now just because I feel like people are disappointed when they meet me, and they're like, 'Oh, her hair's in a ponytail; she doesn't have any makeup
on.' So I've been trying to, I guess, meet people's expectations a little bit more and actually look like a real person that has a real job." Carrie, I say keep wearin' your ponytail, Girl. You're gorgeous!
On being a HUGE fan of Jason Ashley Wright: "He's awesome! Please read his Tuesday column and blog daily, as I can't make it through life without it. Please drink Vitaminwater." OK, that last bit might not be in the magazine, but whatev.
Read more in the December issue of Elle, which is on stands now.
Peace, love and Carrie ... xoxo

Haha. Sheesh. It's been quite a while since she went worldwide. Kind of interesting to look back and realize she lived a life just like ours at on time. Oh, the beautiful people: they've got it all, right?
I'm glad to know I don't have that life (I make no claims of not fantacizing about having it, though).
But Jason, I couldn't live without your column. Woo vitaminwater! I love the XXX flavoured one.
Y'know what'd be cool? You giving us a hint about what we can look forward to Tuesday =P. Or, maybe you could give me a hint on my blog

Living Wright
While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
