Rihanna, left, was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey recently on "Oprah's Next Chapter" on OWN. GEORGE BURNS/2012 Harpo Inc.

Cat fight.

Joan Rivers and Rihanna are feuding via Twitter, according to hollywoodreporter.com.

On Friday, comedienne and host of E!'s "Fashion Police" host Rivers reacted to the singer's recent interview with Oprah Winfrey and the revelation that she still loves her abusive former boyfriend Chris Brown, reported the website. Rihanna, 24, and singer Brown ended their relationship in 2009 after he assaulted her before the Grammy Awards.

"Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's MY turn to slap her," River tweeted.

Rihanna quickly replied: "@Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you're old huh?"

Rivers, 79, fired back by tweeting, "Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he’ll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS – Love to have you on Fashion Police!"

River's co-host Kelly Osbourne entered the fray Monday in support of Rivers tweeting: "W/ the greatest of respect 2 a young lady of whom I love please get a sense of humor @Joan_Rivers paved the way 4 all us opinionated ladies!"

No word yet if Rihanna will accept River's invitation to appear on the cable show. The singer is set to perform on the "2012 MTV Video Music Awards," airing at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 on cable 39.

Rita Sherrow grew up with TV. Yes, it was the ever-present “sister” from another techno mother. At first look, it was instant "Like." From then on, the TV had to be on in every room while she studied, elementary school through college. An Air Force brat, she attended school in three states (Oklahoma, Montana and Georgia) and two foreign countries (Germany and Bermuda) and graduated from Broken Arrow High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in journalism/advertising. She first interned in the advertising world but, when a J-School professor (who also covered politics for the Tulsa World) offered her an internship at the newspaper, she took him up on it. The rest is history. She has served as bridal editor, senior features writer for the women’s section, food editor and is television editor of the Tulsa World. In addition to writing about TV shows and interviewing the stars for “Scene” stories, she also writes a TV column for Weekend and produces the Sunday TV World listings magazine.
