I tagged along with Tulsa World business writer Kyle Arnold this morning to take a tour of the nearly completed Charlie Mitchell's Modern Pub at 4848 S. Yale Ave.

We met up with the partners in the restaurant, Greg McGill, Hal Walker and Charlie Mitchell, who all seemed to be excited about the new venture.

McGill and Walker own the McGill's steak houses. Mitchell, former popular Tulsa Roughnecks soccer player, who still looks fit enough to take the pitch, opened his first Charlie Mitchell's Restaurant & Pub in 1981 and closed the last one in 1995.

The new restaurant is located in space formerly occupied by a Carrabba's Italian Grill. Walker said the architect's main directive was to make sure "it has absolutely no resemblance to a Carrabba's," and based on our tour it doesn't. I think you are going to like it.
