If you missed Tuesday's Booksmart event with Joanne Chang, you missed an intelligent discussion from a woman who can fluidly talk about applied mathematics and the pros and cons of European vs. American butter. (She uses Cabot, an American butter.)

Chang is a Harvard graduate, owner of the hugely popular Flour bakery in Boston and author of the cookbook "Flour." This wasn't her first time in Tulsa though. Chang spent four childhood years here, going to Jenks and then Booker T. Washington High School.

A big crowd turned out for this Tuesday night book talk and cooking demo. Besides Chang's tips on making a crumb coat, choosing the best chocolate and measuring kosher salt, perhaps the sweetest thing, or things, were the desserts. B'Nai Emunah members made two recipes from "Flour:" snickerdoodles and lemon-ginger scones with a lemon glaze.

I really wanted to go but Raven had her Senior picture pre-view. Thanks for the review!

It was a great event, Stacey. You would have loved the cooking demo... ginger-lemon scones.
