Choc Beer Co. of Krebs has settled a trademark dispute with a Minnesota-based soft-drink company and will phase out the current label of its 1919 American pale wheat beer.

Minnesota's New Ulm Brewing and Beverage Co. also uses the 1919 label for a root beer.

"They sued us a few months ago and as part of the settlement we agreed not to use the 1919 label," said Choc president Zach Prichard.

"We started making that beer in 1994, and for a long time it was just Choc beer, without the 1919. We have redesigned the label, and it will be just Choc beer again."

Prichard said the new label probably will start showing up at retail stores in late March or early April.
