Christmas is coming too soon

I’m too busy worrying about the mess in my backyard, the tree limb that went through our windshield and a house that needs to be cleaned to think about Christmas cooking.

I know I’m not alone because so many of you have told me the same thing. It’s not that we're bah humbugs, we're just busy people still trying to shake off the impact of the power outage.

Whether or not I’ll have time to make gingerbread is a luxury those still without power would love to have. So I’ll remember that this weekend when I’m fussing over royal icing.

Some people have already decided that their trees, Christmas music and candy making are going through the first week of January. Since many of us feel like we’ve lost a week (or two), we might as well extend the Christmas spirit through the new year.

When the opportunity to become the food writer at the Tulsa World presented itself in the summer of 2011, Nicole jumped at it. She is excited to explore a new side of Tulsa and make the transition from crime to cuisine. .
