Computer or cookbook?

When looking for a recipe, do you prefer searching online or scouring food magazines, newspapers and cookbooks?

I’ll admit the number of recipes I get online from a variety of sources has grown. I find it all comes down to time. And maybe a little bit of memory loss, but I’ll get back to that later.

When I am in a rush after work to find a recipe for dinner, I almost always look online.

But midday on the weekend while looking for a new meal to try, I will sit on the sofa and leisurely peruse printed recipes. I actually really enjoy thumbing through recipes and reading the stories behind them.

Though - like most things - the search for the perfect recipe is going high-tech.

There are now online indexing services, such as Eat Your Books, that allow you to instantly search the indexes of the cookbooks you already own. It also searches blogs and magazines.

Here’s what I like about that idea: sometimes I forget where I saw a recipe. I can remember the recipe, the pretty picture and that it sounded really good, but I have no idea where to find it.

Anything that helps me find what I am looking for is alright by me.
