Consumer Reports gives mini review of sparkling wines

Gruet Blanc de Noirs
The January edition (yes, the January edition already has reached home subscribers) of Consumer Reports contains a mini review of sparkling wines.
Among the four the magazine rated Very Good, two are readily available in Oklahoma, and of the three rated Good, one is common in area stores.
The two Very Good wines are Gruet Blanc de Noirs ($15) and Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut ($26). Making the Good list is Freixenet Brut Cordon Negro ($14). Prices are closer to what one might find in local stores rather than those listed in the magazine.
Gruet is made in New Mexico and has been a highly popular sparkling wine in Oklahoma for at least 10 years. Roederer is a California product, and Freixenet is made in Spain.
Consumer Reports also tasted seven moscatos and gave a nod to Yellow Tail ($8) as Very Good and a Best Buy. Moscatos are sweet wines with light to moderate fizz.
At the Yellow Tail price point, I think there are better moscato choices. Check with your favorite wine shop for suggestions.

Not a sparkling wine, but "Famega" fizzes slightly when you first open it...and it is fresh and crisp tasting...

Good call Domo and it's cheap- we go through a lot of it at my house.
