According to
Deadline, “The Daily Show” host
Jon Stewart will be taking 12 weeks off this summer to direct his first feature film called “Rosewater.” It’s adapted from the book “Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival” by Maziar Bahari, and is about Bahari's trip to Iran to cover the 2009 presidential election only to be captured and sent to an Iranian jail for 118 days where he was brutally interrogated all while his pregnant fiancée was back at home. Stewart also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming film.
From
Deadline: "While Stewart is known for his humor, taking on a geopolitical hot button issue film like this is in keeping with how he has made his show an important part of the conversation on political matters."
