I've been struggling to come out of my funk, and a little chocolate shop in the Brady Arts District was
just the kick in the pants I needed.
After lunch, FGP and I went over to Glacier Confection at 15 E. Brady St. and met Davis Light, a certified chocolate specialist who has hair like mine, but I don't think he's let it effect him psychologically as I have.
He guided us through the different edible options, including a new acai blueberry chocolate, which immediately became my new dark chocolate lover. It's also healthy because acai is high as a stoner's kite in anti-oxidants, so it's basically a multi-vitamin replacement. Throw a few on a spinach salad each day, and you're pretty much guaranteed to live 'til 102.
I kept getting distracted, though, by the adjacent case, which held these Grizzly Peanut Butter Cups -- kinda like Reese's cups on steroids but without any shrinkage side effects. Ha! Sorry ...
Anyhoo, I had to get one of those, plus some sea salt caramel for my editor and English toffee for food writer Nicole Marshall Middleton, who was kind enough to bring me one of those awesome brownies from Sproutz last week. We three-named writers have to stick together, ya know.
Now, back at my desk, I have chocolate-induced endorphins (anyone else sing the theme song to "Flipper" when they hear that word?) coursing through my body. I am, after a tedious winter of discontent, feeling happy. And I just wanted to thank Glacier for it.
Is chocolate your natural go-to-pick-me-up when you're down? If not, what is?
Peace, love and "they call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he" ... XOXO
