Daryl Hannah was arrested Thursday in Texas while protesting the creation of an oil pipeline making this the second time the “Kill Bill” star has had a run in with the law over the issue.
Thursday, the 51-year-old actress and landowner Eleanor Fairchild, 78, reportedly stood on equipment at Fairchild’s Winnsboro, Texas, farm to stop attempts to building the Keystone XL pipeline,
PEOPLE reports.
"It is unfortunate Ms. Hannah and other out-of-state activists have chosen to break the law by illegally trespassing on private property," said David Dodson, a spokesman for TransCanada – the company behind the pipeline, in an email to the Associated Press.
Hannah, who was charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest, paid a $1,000 and $3,000 bond, respectively, before being released around midnight,
PEOPLE reports.
In August 2011, Hannah and others were arrested in D.C. after holding a sit-in protest outside the White House in opposition to the oil pipeline’s expansion.
Said Hannah to KLTV about Thursday's arrest: "I was peacefully protesting the unwanted advances of Trans Canada on Eleanor Fairchild's land. She has stated very clearly that she doesn't want them there and they insist on bullying her and taking away her land through eminent domain."
Nicki vs. Mimi feud unfortunately continues
After this week’s video leak of rapper
Nicki Minaj going off on
Mariah Carey during “American Idol” auditions, sources close to the ‘Idol’ judges say the fallout was just waiting to happen.
While the ‘will Nicki and Mariah get along?’ question seemed like contrived drama to get viewers, sources told E! that Mariah supposedly wanted to be the only woman on the judging panel, and Nicki, well Nicki “felt like (Carey) was being passive-aggressive.”
And somewhere in the midst of all this,
Barbara Walters called MC and was told that after Minaj’s rant, the 29-year-old said while walking off set, she’d shoot Carey if she had a gun.
Minaj has in so many words denied she said this, and E! reports that after the video was leaked, ‘Idol’ producers held a meeting – Mariah and Nicki were there – and everyone agreed to move on.
Whatever. I haven’t seen a blowup like the one leaked this week since high school and I don’t want to see one like it again.
Get it together, Nicki, or find another project. Please.
“American Idol” has a sort of preeminence to it among the reality singing/talent competition shows out there right now.
It’d be nice to keep it that way.

The advice book features a collection of essays.
