Season 7 "American Idol" winner and former Tulsan David Cook has recorded the farewell song for the 10th season of "American Idol."

“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” was chosen by Simon Fuller, "American Idol" creator and executive producer. It's a remake of the Simple Minds' 1985 smash hit and will air each week as contestants are eliminated.

Fans who preorder Cook's upcoming second album will get the track for free at

DavidCookOfficial.com. Starting March 8, it also also be for sale on iTunes and via other digital retailers.

I think he does indeed sound good. I am glad this remake was almost exactly like the original. I am so sick of these artists changing songs and remaking songs that should just be left alone. Cant wait to hear this on Idol tonight!

It'll be great to hear David's voice on TV every week! He did a great job with this; he has an amazing voice. Oh, but the pic of him you chose? SO old - lol! He's got lots of more current ones to choose from... :)

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.
