The aristocrats and the servants are gearing up for another season of Downton Abbey on PBS Sunday.

Ok, I know I have already broken one of my Pop
resolutions for the new year -- sort of.
I professed not to obsess over new TV shows this year.
But I'm thanking my lucky TV stars for a few returning series this year, some in January, others only a couple of months away. Start planning those viewing parties now.
Downton AbbeyFor Christmas, I received the DVDs for
Masterpiece's British mini-series sensation, Downton Abbey. I'm not alone in relishing the gorgeous setting -- an early 20th-Century manor on the English countryside, and its inhabitants both above and below the stairs.
If you haven't watched this seven-part series, do so right now (and think to yourself in a British accent because that's what I'm doing as I write this).
When: Season 2 starts Sunday on PBS, and I'm hoping that it's going to be quite spectacular.
FYI: Season 1 is available on Netflix's instant streaming for those who have it, and on DVD.
Mad MenAfter more than a year (a whole year!), we finally get to see what happens next on the acclaimed AMC series about those oh-so-mod advertising execs in their mid-century New York atmosphere.
Other shows have tried to follow suit (The Playboy Club, Pan Am) but they just don't have that razzle dazzle. Can't wait to see what Don Draper has been up to, but I hope it's not a big disappointment --remember when
The Sopranos came back after a 16-month hiatus back in 2002?
Fingers crossed.
When: March 2011 on AMC
FYI: Repeats of season 4 are airing on Sunday nights.
30 RockThis always-goofy, always-funny series is back for its sixth season on Jan. 12. Regardless of Alec Baldwin's off-camera airline shenanigans, it's a welcome return for this fan.
But I wonder how Season 5's cliff hanger will resolve itself? Baldwin's character's wife, Avery Jessup-Donaghy (Elizabeth Banks) has been kidnapped by the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il....wonder how they'll joke their way out of that one?
I'm confident that Tina Fey can figure it out.
When: Jan. 12 on NBC
FYI: Seasons 1-5 are available streaming on Netflix.
What shows are you most looking forward to in 2012?
