Out of The New York Times: The man who accused Kevin Clash, the voice behind "Sesame Street’s" Elmo, of an underage sexual relationship has recanted his claim.

The law firm representing the accuser said in a statement that “he wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship…He will have no further comment on the matter."

Monday, gossip website TMZ reported that this summer, the accuser, now 24, had contacted the Sesame Street Workshop alleging he’d had a sexual relationship with Clash, an executive co-producer for the show, beginning when the accuser was 16 years old.

Sesame Street Workshop officials said they had the claim thoroughly investigated over several months and recovered no evidence supporting the accusation.

In a statement Monday, Clash acknowledged the relationship as being “between two consenting adults.”

Clash has since taken a leave of absence from the show, and “Sesame Street” producers have said he will be replaced in his role during the absence, Variety reports.
