In my review of Elwood's a few weeks ago I didn't have space to mention some of the signs than adorn the walls at this cabana-style restaurant on the banks of the Arkansas River.

I don't recall them all now, but three of my favorites: "If you are drinking to forget please pay in advance." "Peace rocks." and "Nothing in Life is Fun for the Whole Family."

Elwood's owner Tom Dittus also said it probably will be December or January before his new Blue Rose Cafe opens near Elwood's. Part of the Blue Rose will hang over the water.

"I'm used to going in with a little duct tape and bailing wire to open a restaurant, but this is a whole different deal," he said. "It takes all kinds of engineers, experts and contractors to open a restaurant on piers."

Good deal, I'm surprised it took so long to build restaurants along the river.

I'm suprised he's gotten all the permits required, corps of engineers are usually slow and methodical
