Embarrassing blasts from the past

I frequently say things I wish I could take back.

Case in point: My column today (written Monday morning, when Tuesday felt like light years away), in which I mention sharing a few embarrassing photos with you. So I guess I'll be true to my word and share a few with you.

The first one is me (ala Boy George) with, from left, Al, Shea Butter and Banshee.

Next up (and perhaps most embarrassing on here): My senior portrait. Notice the evangelist hair and chipped front tooth from when a car hit me in second grade. (OK, the truth is I ran into the car -- which was parked at the time.)

Finally, my most recent embarrassing photo: Street School's "Outsiders" prom party. That's me in the non-"Outsiders" costume (I was supposed to be a greaser) with mine and Banshee's supportive entourage. (There were other more embarrassing ones, but they wouldn't let me post them on here.)

Peace, love and blushing ... xoxo

P.S.: Sorry, don't have the Wonder Woman or scarf photos from column -- those are safely hidden away in Miss'ippi.

Your look at life is great. You make me smile and laugh every time I read one of the articles you write. Such talent you have..Keep up the good work...and YES we all have photos from childhood that we regret..Thanks MOM...hahaa

Trust me, honey, if a chipped tooth is all you have to be worried about, you escaped high school fairly unscathed. (Granted, the Boy George look wasn't your best, but it was hot at the time!) I should have had MANY ritual burnings of my own photos LOOONNNNGGG ago... hmm... maybe that's what I'll do this weekend!

Awwww! The memories! The 80's party was one of our best ever! Although the Outsiders was a blast as well! We always seem to have fun. And Shea, I would do anything to relive watching you fall off the stage. Classic moment!

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
