The most frequently asked question I get, bar none: What is your favorite restaurant?

I dine at 100 different restaurants a year, give or take, and I've been doing this 7 1/2 years. That is roughly 750 restaurants.

Because of the nature of the job -- I have to dine out two or three times a week at different places, no matter what -- and because I enjoy my wife's cooking and like to relax at home after a day's work, we don't make many return visits to those 750 restaurants.

It's those return visits, where one develops a rapport with the staff and a familiarty with the menu (you can order the same thing every single time if you want; I can't do that, either), that foster a "favorite" restaurant.

A local CPA and wine aficionado told me after a recent trip throughout Europe that he can find as good a food at many places in Tulsa as he did in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, etc. For sure, we are fortunate to have many terrific cooks in our community, but picking a favorite: No way.

Hey Scott,

I noticed in todays (8/10) Spot you listed some alternative "hidden gems" restaurants. You undoubtedly forgot the "best kept secret in Tulsa, the Blue Moon Bakery and Cafe! All I can say is Deeeeeeeeeeelicious, every bite. You should stop by for breakfast or lunch sometime soon.

I agree with you about the Blue Moon Bakery, but I did not include breakfast-lunch places in the roundups either week. Mostly a space consideration, and the assumption that most PGA visitors, anxious to get out to the course, weren't going to go out of their way to pick up some breakfast.

Oddly enough, the blue moon had a huge week during the pga without your comments.

FYI, they also serve a fabulous LUNCH.
