GQ's Brett Fahlgren is calling all men to put their best foot forward.

Brett is GQ's style correspondent and the newest guest editor at Piperlime, an online shoe mecca from Gap featuring a variety of fab brands. Anyway, Brett takes the expert fashion tips he gives to celebs and pro-athletes, and provides a cheat sheet for men everywhere. And what man doesn't like to cheat? Wait, that came out wrong ...

Whatever, you can view his tips and shop his favorite picks at Piperlime.

Tip No. 1: Keep it simple. "Don’t overhaul your closet," Brett said. "Just infuse a few heavier, darker items," such as shoes in rich chocolate shades, which are classic.

No. 2: Get rich. Whether you like it or not, everyone notices footwear. Brett suggests always buying shoes that appear to be expensive, even if they're not. (Listen to the man -- I get lots more compliments on my black Steve Maddens than the Ferragamos I bought under sales associate-induced duress eight years ago.)

And numero tres: Stock up. "Don’t wear the same shoes everyday until they fall off your feet," Brett warned. His faves are short boots, harness boots and, of course, a classic sneaker.

Check out Brett's favorites at www.tulsaworld.com/piperlimebrett.

Living Wright

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
