Fat Tuesday, indeed

Never has there been a more appropriately named holiday than Fat Tuesday -- with the obvious exception of July Fourth.
Tuesday started out so innocently, despite the ominous thunder and even more annoying alarm clock. But I eventually flung myself out of bed, showered, blah, blah, blah, then got to work. Fabulous, praise God for a paycheck.
As the day waned and wailed, however, I became less resilient to healthy vittles. First, the pretzels; not bad, I guess. But lunch brought a small Caesar salad from Impressions downtown (excellent, by the way), which was followed by a three-hour series of stressful moments. This begat searches for rogue saltine packets from nearby delis, followed by glimpses through the vending machine glass, where I usually pause to check for an overly shiny nose -- but not today. Today, I was seriously contemplating getting one of those frosted carrot cake things. Carrots are healthy.
Then one of the little voices in my head said, "Now, Jason, life is filled with stress. You can't give in to your culinary desires every time something goes oh-so slightly awry ..."
And while he talked (or she, not sure -- I can see why people confuse my sex over the phone now), I pecked away at two kinds of Pop Tarts for an upcoming Lunch Bunch taste test. That was immediately before inhaling a frosted elephant (more info on that soon, I promise).
Lesson learned: Keep fruit and veggie snacks handy all the dang time -- ya just never know when you'll be freaked out enough to blow your diet.
Peace, love and pachyderms ... xoxo

Now I know why my co-worker and I were so famished today. We just wanted to graze though. We are 2 lone females in the engineering office at Sinclair and the guys are always coming in and hitting our candy jar. Dang! They hardly ever bring any goodies and no one offered us beads today either! Maybe that's why we were a little "under the weather".
Love your "bullet hole" rambling this morning. That made us laugh.
Love ya!

Kendell, it's time those guys in your office started bringing the candy! Literally, of course. Hope you're out from under the weather today! xoxo

Just saw that you will celebrate 10 years here in Big T this August...any celebrations planned?

Hi, Kathy! Nope, no celebratory plans, other than a margarita, perhaps, as the anniversary will be sweltering August. Then again, 'ritas are kinda high in carbs, so maybe a Diet Coke and a fan turned on high. We shall see! xoxo

WOW, 10 years in Tulsa?! Do you miss the 'Deep South'? HAHAHA!!! I know what sounds great for Breakfast. Grits is the first thing to come to mind.

Oooh, Lawsy -- grits!!! I miss grits. How do y'all eat 'em? (I pose these questions as if anyone is reading my responses, but let's pretend ...) My favorite way: Tons of butter. Like a 3:1 grits-to-butter ratio. This might, perhaps, explain why I'm dieting. Hmm ...

Living Wright
While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
