We had fun discussing the very controversial special edition
Tattoo Barbie a while back.
Now it's time for more fun with Barbie.
The latest Barbie is not as controversial, unless you think $100 is too pricey for a collectible set of Royal Barbies.
Yes, Mattel is set to release a pair of the most famous newlyweds this year -- Prince William and Catherine Middleton, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The pair of Barbies will be released in April to coincide with the couple's first anniversary, according to
MSNBC.
"Barbie Kate is regal in a floor-length, long-sleeved, ivory taffeta gown trimmed with lace and faux pearl buttons, modeled after Kate's Alexander McQueen dress," according to the website. "The faux-duchess even has a lace veil, diamond earrings and sparkling tiara. William’s red Irish Guard uniform is decorated with a royal blue sash, metallic cummerbund, golden buttons and medallions."
These Barbies are kind of cute, I must say. I'm no collector, but had I the room for a Barbie bonanza at my home, these would be on my wish list.
In fact, you can pre-order the Barbies online at
Barbie Collector, where another notable "married" couple has already been Barbied -- Bella and Edward from
Twilight.
You can already buy Barbie Bride Bella (say that three times fast) for $29.95 on the same website.
As for the royal dolls, parents should at the very least feel relieved: Catherine's a class act, and there are probably no sleeve tattoos (not that there's anything wrong with them) hiding beneath her McQueen gown. Right? I guess you never know.
