Fitness fun: Halloween dodgeball and cardio on the lawn

A couple of fitness events are coming up that sound like a lot of fun, even for those who haven't seen the inside of a gym in years.

The first is a free turbo kick class on the north lawn of the University of Oklahoma Schusterman Center at 6 p.m. Monday. It's going to be intense, with an hour of cardio, but think of the fun when enduring it with a whole lawn full of people.

The class is part of Sky Fitness and Wellbeing of Midtown's Fitness Loves Midtown community workout series. It's a chance to see what the services are like at Sky in a fun, big group setting. The second in the series will be a Power Pop pilates class on the Schusterman lawn on Nov. 12.

Even if an hour of cardio sounds like too much, you might just drop by to see this very public exercise exhibition.

When: 6 p.m. Monday

Halloween dodgeball

OK, this next event may sound either terrifying or fun. The Nienhuis Park Community Center in Broken Arrow is having a Halloween Dodgeball Tournament Oct. 22.

So, that means if you don't already have nightmares about middle-school dodgeball days, you really will when a ball comes whirling at your head by a guy dressed as a zombie.

The tournament should be a lot of fun, with costumed teams vying for the big win.

Registration for the tournament is Monday, and teams must consist of a minimum of three guys and three girls with a maximum of eight people per team.
