Food for a snow day

Chili. Beef stew. Lasagna. Meatloaf.

These are some of the foods we crave on snow days. We had plenty of advance warning that this winter weather was coming, so many of you likely stocked up at the grocery store with all the things you would need for a few days of hibernation.

We must all share the same snow-day brain because carts were filled with pounds of ground beef, blocks of cheese, loads of snacks, marshmallows and mixes for hot chocolate and brownies.

What are you eating on this snow day? Chili and stew? Or something unexpected?

We had chilli one night, then made a trip out and went to Pizza hut. I found out my three yr old likes hot wings. She took it better then my four Yr old son who way yelling "It burn me!" and sucking down his pop.

Chicken Soup with mezzaluna 4 cheese tortellini. With celery, mushrooms, and carrots...seasoned with garlic and Chinese Five Spice.

I made turkey and noodles in a thick soup last night. Made a good stock from the turkey breast combined with leftover turkey. It was certainly good, if I do say so myself!

When the opportunity to become the food writer at the Tulsa World presented itself in the summer of 2011, Nicole jumped at it. She is excited to explore a new side of Tulsa and make the transition from crime to cuisine. .
