Foreigner

Due to a rigorous touring schedule several Foreigner performance dates have been rescheduled, including the May 10 performance at Downstream Casino Resort in far northeast Oklahoma.

The rescheduled date is 8 p.m. Aug. 9, said representatives for the resort.

Tickets purchased for the May 10 show will be accepted for the Aug. 9 show. Full refunds will be given at the original point of purchase to those who cannot make the rescheduled event, said Sean Harrison, PR manager for the venue.

More information is available by calling the resort, (866) 977-6849 or visiting downstreamcasino.com.

Foreigner’s rigorous tour schedule has helped the band become one of the most popular classic rock artists of the year, said the band’s head of marketing and promotion, John Lappen.

Did you know?

- On April 16, Foreigner's latest CD “No End In Sight” re-entered the Billboard Top 200 at No. 159.

- So far this year, Foreigner is # 14 on Classic Rock Radio.

- Foreigner played to 176,000 fans at The Samsung 500 Nascar event in Dallas on April 5.

- This fall, Foreigner will release a new three-disc package with 10 or so new songs, all the original hits and a video. Mark Ronson (Grammy-winning producer of Amy Winehouse) is a key producer on the new song CD.

Barrelhouse Beat

Barrelhouse: A colloquialism describing the low saloons at the turn of the century (19th) that served whiskey straight out of the barrel. It's also a reference to the type of music played in those venues. Ex: Barrelhouse music.

Beat: The time or timing. Ex: The band played with a solid beat. Also used as a term describing a reporters specific area of expertise. Ex: The music beat.

About me: I'm Okie born and raised, and have lived all over the state: Oklahoma City, Enid, Moore, Norman, Edmond and Tulsa. I am a music geek, writer, graphic designer and amateur photographer and videographer who's followed the Tulsa and regional music scene since I moved to Green Country more than 10 years ago. I've been enmeshed in Tulsa's varied and vibrant musical night life, what some of us affectionately call a modernized throwback to the Barrelhouse scene, since that time. I fell in love with it. I fell hard.
