Marcus Vause plans to offer Modern American cuisine with flavors of the Middle East, Mediterranean and Latin America at his new restaurant. MATT BARNARD/Tulsa World
Marcus Vause, former executive chef at the recently closed Brasserie, is in the early stages of opening his own restaurant, SOCIAL Food & Drink, to be located at 624 S. Boston Ave.
“We still have a few things to be worked out, but I think we’re getting close,” Vause said. “It probably would be after the first of the year before we could get it open.”
Vause said the menu style will be Modern American with flavors of the Middle East, Mediterranean and Latin America.
“Those flavors all go well together, and it’s the kind of food my wife and I like to eat at home,” Vause said. “There won’t be anything crazy; I think people will be comfortable with the menu.”
Vause said the restaurant would occupy the lobby of the Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. Building, constructed in 1928 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located on the northwest corner of Seventh Street and Boston Avenue.
“It’s not dark inside like a lot of the old buildings downtown,” he said. “It’s light and bright, a lot of white marble, and it has an awesome feel when you walk inside.”
