Comedian Jeff Foxworthy has signed to be the host of the Game Show Network’s new show "The American Bible Challenge."

The series is in development and shooting will begin on the pilot episode later this month.

On the game show, shot in front of a studio audience, contestants compete on their knowledge of the Bible. Questions "will be designed to acknowledge and celebrate the Bible's continuing importance in contemporary life and culture," according to press information. Each team will be playing for a faith-based organization.

"I am excited to be hosting a show about the bestselling book of all time," said Foxworthy, who is known for his "redneck" jokes.

"It will be interesting to find out what people really know and an opportunity to present the Bible in a fun and entertaining way."

Foxworthy is the host of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" airing on GSN, cable 171. He is also a best-selling comedy recording artist, the winner of multiple Grammy Awards and the author of more than 26 books.

Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy recently reunited for "Them Idiots Whirled Tour," which was filmed as a special for CMT.
