Christopher Foyle's war will continue next summer on "Masterpiece Mystery!"
Michael Kitchen returns to his starring role as Senior Intelligence Officer Foyle with his friend Sam (Honeysuckle Weeks) in three new 120-minute episodes of "Foyle's War" debuting next summer on PBS. The announcement was made Wednesday by WGBH Boston which presents "Masterpiece" on PBS.
"World War II may be over, but Christopher Foyle's war against injustice and wrong-doing rages on," said "Masterpiece” executive producer Rebecca Eaton in a press statement. "His very loyal American fans will be thrilled."
In the series, Foyle and Sam enter into a new post-war era "as their worlds shift into those of MI5."
In the series, which uses stories based on real-life cases, Foyle will focus his attention on the world of espionage while gathering secret intelligence in support of Britain's security, defense and the Government's foreign and economic policies, according to press information.
Foyle will discover not everyone in the British establishment during 1946-1947 can be trusted and will use everything within his means to keep his country safe.
Sam will also find her world changed. She is happily married to local MP Adam and learning to be the political wife. Being reunited with Foyle means a new working role for her.
The series was first introduced to "Masterpiece" viewers on PBS in 2004.
