Free screening of Ron Howard film inspired by BA man's photo

"Yea Though I Walk" is the title that Chris Wehner of Broken Arrow gave his photo, which was one of eight winners (among 96,000 entries) that Ron Howard chose to inspire a short film.

"When You Find Me" is the name of the short film produced by Ron Howard and directed by his daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, based on eight photographs selected in a contest run by Canon.

The local connection -- beyond Howard being an Oklahoma native born in Duncan -- is that Broken Arrow's Chris Wehner took a picture of a decorative gate at Memorial Park Cemetery under a dramatically cloudy sky, and Howard picked it as a winner to help inspire the story for the 25-minute movie.

Now you can attend a "hometown screening" next Thursday to see how his photo entitled "Yea, Though I Walk," inspired the movie.

It will take place at Cinemark Tulsa, 10802 E. 71st St., and admission is free for the event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, which will include a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the short film, followed by the 25-minute movie "When You Find Me."

A reservation is required, and an RSVP may be made via email at CanonTulsaScreening@Grey.com. The screening will allow a local audience its first glimpse at how Wehner's photograph influenced Howard's film.

Dress is casual for this event, which also includes a dessert bar after the movie and giveaways. Wehner is expected to introduce the films and answer questions after the 40-minute screening on his special night.

In addition, Wehner said the Howards are going to submit the movie to film festivals in 2012, as well as to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for short film consideration at next year's Oscars.
