FridayThreesome: Bloodsuckers, sausage casings and horsetail

As we go happily (I hope) into the weekend, I wanted to tell or ask you three things:
1. Have y'all heard Vampire Weekend? Apparently, it's an Afro-pop-influenced alt-rock band or whatever from New York, according to words I borrowed and rearranged from Rhapsody. Their debut album, the surprisingly titled "Vampire Weekend," is ... Well, I'm going to avoid the "sounds like this artist and that one" thing, which a music afficionado told me is kinda insulting to the artist of whom you're trying to make a comparison (even though I'm DYING to work "Sting and Bob Marley's love child" into a sentence). Anyway, I could totally envision myself with a margarita somewhere (preferably tropical) listening to this -- and, perhaps, hammock dancing ...
2. Target, some of you may have noticed, has its swimwear out. And the guys' stuff is pretty cool. However, even though I'm planning a Florida trip with one of my BFFs in March, I couldn't bring myself to buy one this early in the season. What if I buy a large now and it's too baggy? Or what if a medium, even 15 pounds down the road, looks like sausage casing? Mmm, sausage casings ... Sorry, back to the suits: They're about $18 in the men's department, check 'em out. Oh! Ladies, I ran into a stylish local retailer while I was at Target, and she was raving about the women's swimwear. I know it's cold outside, Baby, but ...
3. Here are some supplements recommended for brittle nails from Esther Blum's "Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous" ($22.95, Chronicle):
-MSM: 1,000 mg 3x per day
-Calcium: 1,000 mg per day
-Magnesium: 400-800 mg per day
-Horsetail: 1 tsp of liquid extract (2.5 g from Equisetum arvense herb) diluted in water of juice
Peace, love and vampires ... xoxo

Jason,
Sausage casings - really I mean really!
It is time to do a piece on the best hairstyle for the primary season - I have to vote for Hillary Clinton hillaryclinton check out her headshot under photos.
Hillary has the swoop down pat and no vampires in her coffin.
Where are we going in March? I'm headed to the Caymans after Hillary wins the nomination on Super Tuesday!
I forgot to ask is NAte going too?

Hi, Cheryl! I'll definitely consider the Hillary hair thing (although I'm always a smidgen chicken to delve into politics).
Ooh, the Caymans -- fantastic! I'm going to Florida with a good friend and her two kids, should be a fun road trip. And, no, Nate's not going. Unless we kidnap him or something.
Take care! xoxo

Jason...I totally read the first supplement on the list as M&Ms instead of MSM. Guess I'm still hungry after my lunch break? Whatever, it's the day before Lent starts, I can afford to splurge a little!

M&Ms, MSM, whatever it takes to get you through the day! (Personally, I'd stick with M&Ms, the dark chocolate kind -- lots of antioxidants, great for your skin. Or so I tell myself ...) xoxo

Living Wright
While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
