John Noble returns as Walter Bishop in season five of "Fringe" premiering September 28 on Fox. MICHAEL LAVINE/Fox
Production has been halted on the new season of "Fringe" while one of its stars gets treatment for a sleeping disorder.
Four days into the shooting schedule, production on the final season of Fox's sci-fi drama has been postponed for two weeks while actor John Noble, who plays Dr. Walter Bishop, gets treatment, reported deadline.com Wednesday.
The 63-year-old actor had suffered from the disorder for a while, according to tmz.com. His disorder was aggravated by his "recent intense schedule" that had him flying in from his native Australia to make an appearance at Comic-Con and then sent straight to start work on the set of "Fringe."
He was absent from Monday's "Fringe" panel at the Television Critics Association summer tour Monday in Los Angeles and producers explained he was not feeling well, according to the website.
Filming will resume Aug. 7 and the show will return for its fifth and final 13-episode season on September 28, the website reported.
At Comic-Con July 15, Noble had hinted at an afterlife for the series.
"The film is very possible down the line," said Noble. Co-star Joshua Jackson added, "The show will live on in some form or another."
